"If you don't want a challenge, don't turn up!"
I’ve been working at The Horizon Alliance since September 2006. My current role is that of Project Manager, however once the project has been set up I’ll move into more of a Regional Manager role.
I’ve worked in construction throughout my career, largely out on process plants and mine sites. The last project of a civil nature I worked on was the Air Train project in Brisbane. However, I was drawn to the Alliance as I wanted to get back into the field, I liked the prospect of delivering a civil project of the size on offer here. I saw it as a great opportunity for career progression. And as I’m from the area, it’s good to be back home.
On a day-to-day basis I’m involved in gathering information amongst stakeholders. I’m also charged with co-ordinating and directing the team, monitoring progress and allocating resources accordingly.
It’s a large project, which makes for a huge opportunity. There are so many aspects of construction all coming together here, making for a great environment to work in, especially for the younger guys looking to learn.
I enjoy every small win that comes my way; it makes everything worthwhile and paves the way for those big wins. There’s a challenge here for everyone one who wants one. If you don’t want a challenge, don’t turn up!
