I’ve been with John Holland for 2½ years and joined the Horizon Alliance about 6 months ago, when the company helped me relocate to Queensland.

As a Junior Project Engineer I’m currently involved in the planning stage for the earthworks. There’s an enormous amount of co-ordination, with a lot of different stakeholders and for me it’s exciting to be able to work on a project from the very beginning. With the trend for construction moving towards alliance partnerships I feel it’s the best way to deliver projects. Everyone is driving towards the same goal, and all the stakeholders are pulling together under one roof. We’re building relationships that make problem solving a lot easier.

As the project gets underway I’ll see my work move through construction to commissioning, so the experience is very diverse and I’m getting to develop different skills. Working across a variety of disciplines and learning unfamiliar techniques, there are a lot of opportunities, so I’ll be well equipped to choose my future. Being part of such a massive project can open a lot of doors for you.
