I’ve been working with The Horizon Alliance for just over 12 months now. Prior to this I had heavy involvement in various rail projects, specifically station upgrades, design and documentation.
On any given day I’m involved in station and bridge design. Unlike other projects I’ve worked on however, I’m mostly dealing with stations that are Greenfield sites. With the Alliance you it’s not business as usual, I’m constantly thinking outside the box, generating new ideas or looking at how to do old ideas in new ways.
The beauty of the Alliance is you get all the disciplines in one office. It makes for an easy working environment – easy communication, easy discussion, and the ability to evaluate what others are doing. Communication runs freely, from the Alliance management team all the way down and back again. It’s a two-way communication street. What’s more, we’re constantly revaluating our programs and seeking out new ways to do things.
One of the most enjoyable aspects of the Alliance is working with such great teams, in a great office. Any beginner who wants to learn skills in infrastructure design should look no further. The Alliance offers a broad range of education across diverse areas. And because the people are so experienced and knowledgeable across so many disciplines, it’s a great place to learn and develop your career.
