With over 20 years experience in IT, I’ve been with The Horizon Alliance for 2 ½ years now. I became aware of the Alliance whilst working on an earlier project, I remember thinking it sounded like a really interesting structure.
As Work Scheduler it’s my job to make sure everyone is happy! If there are any IT or facility based problems, I’m the lady that fixes it. If I can’t then I allocate it to an internal colleague or call in an external technician. I then follow everything up to ensure the problem has been solved. I’m also one of the first people new starters meet, ensuring everything is up and running for them. I guess I’m like a one-woman welcome committee!
It’s this interaction with people that I enjoy the most, up close and personal as opposed to on the phone or by email. Compared to other projects I’ve worked on, it’s the sheer size of this project that sets it apart. I look after 170 people here, compared to just 50 in my last role, meaning I get to work with lots of people I wouldn’t normally work with.
It’s this variety that makes it such a good place to work, not just variety of people, but of work too. You’re not stuck doing just one thing, and because there are so many different people from so many different cultures it make for a really interesting workplace.
I’m excited about being part of The Horizon Alliance, and looking forward to seeing just where it takes me.
